1st Term Achievements

  • Approved the largest bond in Klein ISD History. $895 Million in campus upgrades.
  • Unprecedented academic growth; improved Academic Performance across the board on state assessments with all campuses meeting standard and more than doubling the number of ‘A’ rated campuses.
  • Highest family satisfaction results earned in district history, with more than 9 out of 10 respondents expressing satisfaction in several key areas.

  • For the first time in KISD history, high schools earn prestigious ‘Best in US’ ranking.

  • Academics: Dedicated to offering an excellent well-rounded education to every student. In Klein, every student matters and the district knows each student’s strength, and need, to offer unique pathways to their success.
  • Arts: Klein offer students a comprehensive fine arts program in music, theater, visual arts and dance that is one of the best in the State.
  • Athletics: Over 40 consecutive years of athletic performance and competition at the sate level. Klein ISD continues to shape student athletes to be leaders in society.

Safety and Security

  • Additional staff training for Safety & Security.  5000 additional training hours by Klein PD.
  • All school entrances now have secured vestibules, card reader access locks and shatter resistant film installed.
  • Klein ISD police officer and armed security officer on every campus.
  • Dustin is one, if not the only board member across the state that is an ALERRT AAIR trainer and assists with training and preparing emergency responders for active attack/shooter situations across Harris County.
  • Dustin attended all safety/security meetings for Klein ISD and has attended other districts safety/security meetings as well.

Fiscal Integrity and Transparency

  • ASB Certification of Excellence in Financial Reporting 20 years in a row.
  • GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting 27 Years in a row.
  • KISD Received a rating of “A-Superior” under Texas Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system.
  • Adopted a lower tax rate every year of the term.  Current rate is the lowest in 31 years!
  • Committed to raises for staff each year of Dustin’s term, even with no additional state funding.
